Florida: Endless Beaches, interior waterways, and of course the land of theme parks and race cars. A state filled with fun, families and lots of visitors. With all this beauty and opportunity, sadly Florida ranks 3rd in the nation for calls to the National Trafficking Hotline!
Florida has grown exponentially over the past several years and offers beautiful communities for families and businesses. Theme parks, beaches, space coast and agriculture bring opportunity for many. Sadly, it can bring exploitation to others.
With four ports of call around the state, 75 million visitors a year from around the world, I-95, I-75 and I-10 running up, down and across our state, Florida has become an integral part of the human trafficking highway, moving men, women and children through and around the state for labor and sex trafficking. Florida continues to see an influx of crimes associated with human trafficking: drugs, prostitution, exploitation, illicit massage businesses along with an increase of violence that comes along with it.
We can disrupt the cycle and you can be a part of the solution.
Three simple steps. Educate. Empower. Prevent.
Our mission is to educate the communities that make up this beautiful state so we can disrupt the cycle and empower the next generation.
Our programs engage, educate and enliven those that attend. With our primary focus on Middle and High School students and using our award-winning film, Trapped in the Trade © as a starting point, we discuss the intentional grooming and recruitment of children by children and the impact of familial trafficking. We touch on the reality of this experience along with offering possible solutions, what actions to take and ways to use the resources available.
We cover:
Each program is designed to meet the needs of the students where they are and to equip them with the knowledge of how children are intentionally recruited and lured into ‘the life’.
This is Paving the Way Foundations home state. We started in Orlando and have expanded our programs across the state to Tampa, up to Jacksonville and out across the nation: Arizona, Georgia, South Carolina, Washington DC, South Dakota, Texas and New York to name a few.
If what we do inspires you, we are always looking for Mission Ambassadors and Volunteers. Please reach out to us here or fill out the Mission Ambassador Form. We'd love to hear from you!
