We've educated over 46,000 youth and adults over the past 10 years about online exploitation, human trafficking and tactics used to lure children in and most importantly what we can do to prevent it!

Our children are experiencing an 'online life' in a way we can not fathom or understand. They are digital natives; we are literal digital immigrants. With more and more youth being raised by grandparents, elder aunts and uncles, this conversation is transformative. In fact, Social psychologist Jonathan Haidt’s new book, The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness, validates the need for our PEP program. His compact thesis: We’ve overprotected kids IRL (in real life) and under protected them online. This is why Boomers and Gen X are challenged with understanding the importance of the online experience for their kids and grand kids nor do they fully comprehend the long-term impact.

Our programs are evidence based and continually being updated to match the world our children are living in. A recent Common Sense Media study showed that our children are getting an average of 267 DM's (Direct Messages) and/or illicit pictures A DAY!
No one's brain is wired to take in that much unwanted data a day, let alone a developing brain. That is why education is so important to our children. We give language to what they are experiencing so they can share it with a trusted adult.

Our Programs Are Cutting Edge, Effective & Save Lives!

Cyber Savvy Training™

Our Cyber Savvy™ educational program is cutting edge and engaging. We've trained over 46,000 children, teens, young adults and community members since January of 2017. We use either our Award Winning film, Trapped in the Trade, to disrupt what people think they 'know' about exploitation or I am Little Red to show that there are wolves along the path of life that can take you off your game.  After the film we engage the youth in 'What if' scenarios and have them do the critical thinking, empowering them to prevent them from being lured into the life.
Students learn:
  • What is human trafficking and exploitation
  • Grooming and Recruitment tactics used
  • Apps and games where traffickers target youth
  • Signs of trafficking and exploitation
  • Laws that protect them
  • Actions to take to prevent it
Course Outline:
3 - 50 minute classes that are delivered in school or 2 90-minutes classes designed for after school programs

PEER™ Advocacy Program: Prevent, Engage, Equip, Respond

The purpose of this program is to develop peer leaders and advocates to be a safe space for youth who may be experiencing abuse, harm, bullying or online exploitation within our schools and communities.
It's about:
1.
Empowerment – Enabling individuals to build confidence, develop self-advocacy skills, and make informed decisions about their lives.
2. Support and Guidance – Offering emotional and practical support through shared experiences, helping peers navigate challenges and access resources.
3. Representation – Amplifying the voices of individuals who may struggle to express their needs or rights, ensuring their perspectives are heard and respected.
4. Promoting Peace and Justice – Challenging the status quo and advocating for one another, ensuring everyone has access to opportunities and services.

The Outcomes? Extraordinary:
1. Leadership Development: trained to speak in front of a group to powerfully share what they’ve learned with others to disrupt the cycle (peer to peer conversations, 1 to 1 or 1 to many)
2. Peer Advocate:  Amplifying the voices of teens who struggle to express their needs ensuring their perspectives are heard and respected.
3. Utilization of local resources: Offering practical support, helping peers navigate and access resources.
4. Take Action: helping others build confidence, make informed decisions about online and personal safety.

Course Outline
: 6-week program, 1 hour each

PEP program - Parent Education Program

PEP provides experiences and effective engagement for parents to obtain and increase positive parenting approaches for building a healthy family. Parents can supervise, monitor, and approve the online platforms that their children use, however, most are not aware that they need to do this and what is available to assist in that process of protection. Parents are trained to be more aware of the issue, learn impactful tools, and actions to take that  establish safe technology use and to have life-saving conversations with their children.

The PEP program offers:
1. An environment for parents and guardians to support each other as they learn
2. Practice new parenting skills through structured parent and parent-child activities, specifically to decrease online extortion and child abduction.
3. Thoughtful dialogue and conversations to increase the parent-child connection
4. Peer-to-Peer collaboration that foster parental involvement with their children to deter negative juvenile behaviors which can result in direct shame, exploitation, physical harm and even death.

The PEP Program implements evidence-based practices are supported by research and individual evaluation. Our program's innovative approach has action oriented outcomes. Parents are empowered to be bold, yet soft in their conversations with their kiddos, improving their communication, connection and understanding of their children's experiences. This program will also increase their individual digital literacy and making use of new tools to protect their children.

Course Outline: 90 minutes,  taught in-person or online.

Paving The Way Foundation, Inc, is committed that the cycle ends, bringing educational programs to empower our youth with the tools to prevent them from becoming victims of exploitation, sex trafficking, bullying or abuse. Our programs are thought provoking and engage the students to end this silent crime in our schools, educating them on what actions to take when the scenario presents itself and gives them the confidence to disrupt it.

Education and Training Programs for Parents
Look, we get it. Being a parent isn't easy. The world is not like it was when we were kids. With all of the technology surrounding our children, it can be challenging to have a conversation without alienating them, let alone talk with them about something as serious as human trafficking and online exploitation.

You want information that empowers you. Here you'll learn what human trafficking or modern day slavery really is, what it looks like, recruitment and grooming tactics used to lure your children in and, most importantly, how to keep your kids safe.  Our monthly Parent Tech Talks educate and empower parents to have those uncomfortable conversations about topics that seem taboo.

You'll discover how to begin talking with your kids about this topic, leaving you both empowered and prepared. You'll watch our film, Trapped in the Trade, then we discuss how to even start the conversation with your kids and how to keep them safe.

For information on the next course, reach out to us here.

Want to get an early start? Great - check out our Parent Tool Kit to begin those conversations.
