South Dakota: a state filled with majestic scenery, sacred people, booming agriculture, rolling prairies and growing cities. With all this beauty and opportunity and less than 1 million citizens, South Dakota ranks 11th in the nation for calls to the National Trafficking Hotline!
South Dakota offers great communities for families and businesses. It has also drawn attention to those who look to exploit the vulnerable and infiltrate the family unit, seeking to destroying what families have built over the past hundred and thirty years.
With I-90 running across the state and I-29 running right through Sioux Falls, South Dakota has become an integral part of the human trafficking highway, moving men, women and children through and around the state for labor and sex trafficking. The State is now seeing an influx of crimes associated with human trafficking: drugs, prostitution, exploitation, illicit massage businesses along with an increase of violence that comes along with it.
We can disrupt the cycle and you can be a part of the solution.
Three simple steps. Educate. Empower. Prevent.
Our mission is to educate the communities that make up this beautiful state so we can disrupt the cycle and empower the next generation.
Our programs engage, educate and enliven those that attend. With our primary focus on Middle and High School students and using our award-winning film, Trapped in the Trade © as a starting point, we discuss the intentional grooming and recruitment of children by children and the impact of familial trafficking. We touch on the reality of this experience along with offering possible solutions, what actions to take and ways to use the resources available.
We cover:
Each program is designed to meet the needs of the students where they are and to equip them with the knowledge of how children are intentionally recruited and lured into ‘the life’.
Native Relatives
With our founder being a member of the Cherokee Nation and South Dakota the home of 9 Native Reservations, expanding our educational tools for The People to combat this crime on their home land is a priority. Too many of our children are being lured or taken away by deceitful promises of a better future.
What many don't know, Native women make up over 40% of the victims of this horrific crime even though Native Americans only comprise 9% of the states population. Our team walks along side our local partners empowering the men, women and children of the tribes to educate and raise awareness of the fastest growing crime in the world, ways to protect their families and culture, using culturally relevant educational programs that saves lives.
We stand strong with the people of South Dakota. Our team are members of the local community committed to ensure all of our children have a bright future. We've already trained over 100 church youth, home school youth and parents and we can't wait to empower you and your children to break the cycle.
As the South Dakota motto says, Under God, the people rule. The people make the difference!
